Volunteers are crucial to start-up organizations. As a first time event offering free programming to the public, we rely on the passion, commitment, and support of volunteers to assist us in presenting a provocative and stimulating weekend to the New Orleans community. The Improvisation Conference would not be possible without volunteers holding a variety of essential roles. All volunteer positions will include detailed instruction via email.

NOTE: Volunteers who commit 4 or more hours are eligible to attend one of the Master Class workshops on Sunday, December 2 at NOCCA.

Volunteer duties are physically light and social, primarily engaging and assisting attendees. Please see below for a specific list of jobs

Logistics Team

Assist Conference staff in preparing our primary venue, The Jazz Museum at the Old Mint, on Friday afternoon (November 30) and assist with set-up/breakdown on Saturday (December 1). Smiling faces are required!

Venue Usher

Help with crowd management on Friday (November 30) for our Kick-Off event and on Saturday (December 1). Assist with venue transition and audience seating for a 2-hour shift as a venue usher. Dynamic diplomatic skills and friendly attitude are a plus. Must have the ability to stand comfortably for a length of time

*Please note: We allow ushers to sit in on sessions on a space-available basis. However, sitting in is NOT guaranteed. The size of the audience or the demands of the particular volunteer assignment may not make it possible for ushers to engage in the entire session.

Registration/Lounge Attendant

Registration volunteers welcome attendees and share information on the conference schedule.

On Saturday, attendees can take a break between sessions, continue conversations, or meet with friends at the "Call and Response Lounge." Kick back and enjoy complimentary beverages and other treats throughout the day and evening.

Utility Player

No specific duties, but availability and flexibility are required as you may be asked to fill in for any of the above positions at any time…always exciting!
